You were my first love.
The wonder of my world.
16 and in Love.
To think about it now
after the many years.
I wonder what it was
that made me love you so.
After so many years have past
to see you again is still a treat.
Each time you come to see me
I wonder...Why?
Was it that Elvis lip thing?
Was it the way you held my hand?
Was it the way you kissed me?
Was it those beautiful blue eyes that sparkled
each time you looked into mine?
What was it that made me Love you so?
My first true Love.
But Love has changed.
I look into your eyes now
as we sit and talk of times past.
A life time away.
I still see that spark
so deep within your eyes.
The look you gave so many years ago.
That look that once melted my heart.
But Love has changed.
You still move me
just as you did many years ago.
But for some reason I know
now we can only remain friends.
I will hold a Love for you in my heart,
a special place that only I can see.
But Love has changed.
Yes I still get nervous and shake
when you walk through my door.
Yes I still get those damn Butterflies
deep in the pit of my stomach.
Yes I still melt when I hear your voice.
And yes my heart still races
when you kiss me goodbye.
I know again one day you will pop in to say hi.
And yes I will still and forever get these feeling
when you walk back through that door.
But Love has changed.
And in my heart
I will hold you close for eternity.
And somewhere in my dreams
you will always be.
For you were my first true love.
But that Love has changed.
And I hope for you
and for me
a friendship will be enough.
