MOM

I never thought about death
until the day you left our lives.
I never knew how hard it would be,
or how many tears would be cried.

But on that September day
when fate knocked us to the ground.
We found out what loss really was
as you were heaven bound.

It's been one long year now,
and your memories we hold so dear.
We miss you so much Mom,
and wish that you were still here.

If I could have one single wish,
I'd wish for days long past.
The days when you were home
those days that moved too fast.

The days when we were young,
and you held us close to you.
You kissed our cheeks and sang us songs,
from your heart with a love forever true.

Mom I know I can't change a thing,
or bring you back to me.
But know deep down inside my heart,
I'm happy that you are finally free.
